"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso
Why we love it
In 1937, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, German and Italian planes bombed the Basque town of Guernica in Spain.
For Picasso, the artist is a political being, aware of events, and reacts to them.
Paint is a weapon to attack and defend yourself.
Picasso locked up for a month of intense work, finished an artwork of enormous proportions, loaded with symbolic interpretations, one of the works that has become an icon against the terrible suffering that all wars and authoritarian regimes, an antiwar and pacifist symbol, so that we reflect on the tragedies that we must avoid.
This is just our small contribution, your curiosity can do the rest.
