Diana Fonseca. Entelequia

Welcome to Diana Fonseca’s first solo show in Spain! Born in Havana in 1978, Diana has a unique way of looking at the world. She takes the tiny, often overlooked fragments of everyday life and reimagines them into poetic works full of wonder and fantasy.

The exhibition is titled Entelequia—a word that suggests something reaching its own perfect form or existing as a beautiful, unreal dream. For Diana, this title reflects her journey of turning the most ordinary objects into extraordinary imaginary worlds.

You’ll see how she breathes new life into discarded materials, like stones or bits of dried paint gathered from Havana’s historic buildings. Her process is incredibly patient and detailed. Take a close look at Pasa el tiempo (2014-2023), an installation featuring over 4,500 tiny paint chips from Havana’s facades, or her Degradación series, which explores the soft touch of time on the world around us.

The show also features moving video works, including How to Build a House of Cards (2014) and Pasatiempo (2004). These films offer a gentle space to reflect on memory, the fleeting nature of time, and the relatable frustrations of being human.
