Mirabilia. Joan Fontcuberta
June 26, 2025 – January 18, 2026
Mirabilia is a journey through nature and artifice that presents seven projects exploring how photography constructs reality and challenges our perception of truth. Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955), one of the most influential figures in contemporary photography, uses his work to question the authority of the photographic image and its role in shaping memory and knowledge.
The exhibition brings together iconic series such as Fauna, Herbarium, and Sputnik, alongside more recent works. Through these projects, Fontcuberta blurs the boundaries between science and fiction, document and imagination. He invites the viewer to adopt a critical attitude toward the images that surround us in an era of post-truth and visual saturation.
Joan Fontcuberta's career spans more than four decades. He has received numerous awards, including the David Octavius Hill Medal (1988), the National Photography Award (1998), and the Hasselblad Award (2013). This exhibition is a testament to his constant commitment to exploring the limits of representation and the power of storytelling through images.
