Smells Like Kin

Smells Like Kin comes out of the artists’ exploration of traditional and lab-based fermentation practices, both in Asturias and beyond.

The exhibition is all about the senses—it invites visitors to smell, touch, and even listen to the materials filling the gallery.

On the floor, you’ll find sculptures that capture the sounds of fermentation: the buzz of apples being pressed into cider, the hum of decomposing matter recorded underwater, and stories from people in Asturias who work with fermentation—whether as a daily job, a festive ritual, or a scientific experiment.
