Txomin Badiola New York. 1990-1992
December 11, 2025 – January 31, 2026
Txomin Badiola , Pello Irazu Darío Urzay
This exhibition offers a detailed look at a crucial period in the career of the Basque artist Txomin Badiola. During his stay in New York in the early nineties, Badiola’s work underwent a significant formal and conceptual transformation.
Leaving behind the industrial minimalism of his previous sculptures, he began to incorporate more heterogeneous materials, fragmented structures, and narrative elements. The works presented here reflect his engagement with the urban landscape, architectural references, and the construction of identity through space.
Curated by Lucía Agirre, the exhibition highlights how this New York period laid the groundwork for Badiola’s subsequent exploration of complex installations and the intersection between photography, video, and sculpture.
