Museu Can Framis Barcelona

Spain / Barcelona

Can Framis is the newest museum of the Fundació Vila Casas, having opened its doors in April 2009 in Barcelona. The museum displays around 300 works of art created from the 1960s onward, featuring a diverse array of artists who were born in or are connected to Catalonia. Temporary exhibitions are hosted at the Can Framis Espai A0.

Originally a factory built in the late 18th century and owned by the Framis family, the building fell into disuse over time, becoming a symbol of the area’s industrial past. Today, as a Museum of Contemporary Painting, Can Framis offers a perfect setting for art appreciation in the Poble Nou neighborhood, which has since been transformed into Barcelona’s technological hub, 22@. The building’s renovation was carried out by the BAAS architectural firm.
