Palacio de Exposicións Quiosco Alfonso
The Palacio de Exposicións Quiosco Alfonso in A Coruña is a historic and culturally vibrant exhibition venue located in the heart of the Méndez Núñez Gardens. Originally designed by architect Rafael González Villar and inaugurated in 1913, the beautiful Modernist-style building was named in honour of King Alfonso XIII to commemorate his visit to the city.
Over its more than a century of history, the structure has served various social functions — from a café and festival hall to a cinema — before being transformed into a municipal exhibition hall in 1982.
Today it hosts a diverse programme of free exhibitions, lectures, round tables, and cultural events, showcasing artistic, photographic, design and architectural works, including major annual shows such as those linked to the Festival Viñetas desde o Atlántico. The building still retains its original decoration and striking façade details, including decorative ironwork by the Wonenburger foundry, making it both a cultural hub and an architectural gem in the city centre.
